What is Family Ministry and Why Should We do it?

A longitudinal study was completed by the Youth and Family Institute that came to the conclusion that the majority of a person’s faith development is complete by the time they are 10 years old. If that is true, and I believe it to be true, that means our faith development has almost been learned BEFORE Confirmation begins. So, while confirmation is still extremely important, it is just as important that we, as your church leaders and pastors, help you, as parents, to feel competent and comfortable with educating and talking about your child’s faith life daily in the home. After all, the other conclusion this study showed was that it is parents, not pastors, who primarily influence their faith.

As part of our new family ministry, we offer family activities once every couple of months.  This summer we enjoyed swimming at Welch Pool and in the fall we enjoyed ice skating at the Pegula Ice Arena.
