Grace Lutheran will lead a medical mission trip to Nicaragua over spring break (March 7-16, 2008). The goal of the trip is to provide healthcare to those in need. We will primarily stay and base our trip out of the Jinotega and Le Cedros Orphanages, run by Sandy Carter of Children of Destiny.
Fifteen people have agreeded to participate for the trip. The team members are: Kristine Eng, Susan Ferro, Greg Ferro, Steve Foard, Cindy Keith, Jason Laine, Lois Lynn, Pastor Steve Lynn, Brain Newcomb, Celeste Newcomb and the Newcomb children, Suzanne Newcomb, Gail Spotts, and Bea Winkler.
The team will fly into Minaqua and base their trips out of the Jinotega and Los Cedros Orphanages and will coordinate with the ministry of Health through Sandy Carter’s staff.
SPEAGHETTI SUPPER FUNDRAISER: Friday, February 22, 5-7 p.m., in Harkins Hall - Eat in or Take out. Tickets available at the church office in advance or at the door: $6/adults, $3/children suggested donation.
The team will havea meeting on Sunday, February 23 in the Fireside room from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Please continue to pray for the team members and the trip. This is a great service project, and Grace members have responded well by volunteering to go. The cost is $1,300/person. Each person is paying for or trying to raise money for their part of the trip. A portion of this money goes toward medicines and supplies. If you wish (as congregational members) to help defray the cost of the trip, it would be greatly appreciated. Please make your contributions payabel to Grace Lutheran Church with "Nicaragua" in the memo secition. Thank you for your support!
Collection of Medical Supplies:
Used Eye Glasses, Children's Vitamins (chewable & regular), Adult Daily Vitamins, Vitamin C tablets, "Tylenol", "Advil". - Please bring donations to the church office.
