Welcome To Kindergarten

Grace Lutheran Preschool & Kindergarten (GLPK) has offered an innovative, Christ-centered education since 1966. Our commitment to provide each child with a personal, individualized learning experience in a nurturing environment builds self-esteem and creates a solid foundation for learning. We want your child to love learning—to come home happy each day, full of new ideas and stories to share.

GLPK is a Private Academic School certified by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Our curriculum follows Pennsylvania Kindergarten Standards required by the Departments of Education and Public Welfare and meets the curriculum content guidelines used by the State College Area School District. Our commitment to the surrounding community helps children to learn they have an important place in the larger world.

We believe children learn best through thoughtfully planned activities that enable them to gain knowledge through real-life connections, peer interactions, meaningful play, and active exploration of their surroundings.  We strive to provide an environment that stimulates and engages each child’s curiosity about the world around them and meets their individual physical, emotional, developmental and cultural needs.

Kindergarten at Grace offers your family flexibility so you can customize a program and schedule that are best for your child.  Our small class size permits teachers to individualize curriculum and apply different teaching methods to address each student’s individual academic, social and emotional needs. Flexible scheduling options allow your child to make a gradual transition to a five-day, full-day educational experience, with the best possible                      social, developmental and educational options.

The students enjoy music, art, physical education, and library classes weekly, led by specialists in each area.  They also attend a monthly Chapel program.

“We decided to send our son to Grace for Kindergarten because we wanted him to have one more year in a smaller, more personal environment.  We also like the flexibility of him going five mornings with two extended days, instead of five full days.” – Janet and Michael Gess, parents, State College

“Grace Lutheran’s Kindergarten was an unbelievably positive experience for our son.  He progressed so quickly over the school year due to the outstanding student-to-teacher ratio and the quality of the staff.  Grace Lutheran Kindergarten is a magical place for children to be themselves and cultivate a passion for learning.  – Jen Rahne, parents, State College

“Grace Lutheran’s Kindergarten helps children discover, explore and learn to their fullest potential.  The wonderfully small class size provides the teacher with the ability to help the children develop based on their individual needs.  The program is designed to promote both social and academic development and to lay a strong foundation on which to build.”  - Anne Goodall, Kindergarten Teacher.
